This is coming from a CUBS fan who lives with two Cardinals fans who feels like poking the bear....

Yesterday, Pirates 3B Pedro Alvarez hit a ball over Drysdale's No. 53 logo, along the roof of Dodger Stadium's right field pavilion and ultimately into the parking lot. Unfortunately for Alvarez, it was only batting practice.

Fortunately for me, it inspired some top notch googling. I am a google expert. Seems kinda dangerous. Who wants to park their car in the Dodgers lot if it might get hit by a long ball? ME! Seriously, though, is this common? WTF? No, it's actually quite rare and encompasses many mysteries....or just one...

Did Matt Holliday hit a homerun out of Dodger Stadium in 2006 joining the ultra-exclusive club of hitters to do so?

Only three, or four, people have ever hit a homerun completely out of Dodger Stadium (during official play). The confirmed club members are Willie Stargell (twice), Mark McGwire, and Mike Piazza. The big mystery is whether Matt Holliday joined this club in 2006 when he played for the Colorado Rockies. Reports on the subject are sparse - what I'm really looking for is an eyewitness account. Someone had to see this. Someone out there has to know whether the ball actually left the stadium or just hit some palm trees and bounced back in. Someone may even have a video. Unfortunately, that someone is probably one of the major networks. And they would probably consider it a copyright violation for me to post it.

The world may never know.
